We Transform Lives
![]()
Every time Papirus transforms a sheet of paper into a new product it is also transforming the lives of distinct people. During the process, certified gatherers, collaborators, printing houses, and customers give their touch to our formulations.
Environmental Benefits
Since its founding, Papirus demonstrates its Transforming DNA by being the pioneer in card board production from recycled fibers. Through this production process, Papirus has contributed for the decrease of solid waste in landfills that nowadays, in Brazil, represent a volume of 200 thousand tons/day. This reality constitutes a threat to the quality of life of both this and future generations. Thinking of this, Papirus has been doing a smart use of recycling, thus preserving the environment.
Effluents
Papirus uses water from toe Jaguari River (Piracicaba River Bay) in the production process. This water is taken to and treated in its decanters; nowadays, 65% is retrieved and reused in the production process. The Effluent Treatment Station counts on a floating unit (Krofta) for the recovering of fibers, as well as anaerobic and aerobic treatment to control and reduce DBO.

Project Cooperatives

The issue of garbage global crisis demands agility, and efficiency in the search of alternatives for the treatment, and deploying of urban waste. There are numerous possible solutions, among them a program of garbage reduction, biodegradation of industrial waste, and recycling of course.
The population and the industrial growth is the cause for endless waste. Out of what is produced today in Brazil, 76% remain in open air landfills (source: IBGE), which is harmful to the environment, in special to the nowadays scarce soil, air, and hydric resources. There is still a social issue with entire families living around landfills, without hygiene, or dignity.
Solid waste management is a fundamental practice in the economy of countries that are concerned with Sustainable Development because it takes into account:
The importance of environmental preservation;
The importance of decreasing waste generation;
The saturation of available areas for landfills
Papirus employs garbage gatherers cooperatives as suppliers of the scraps that are used in the card board production process, as part of an important social project that benefits all the parts involved. The families gain by finding better life conditions, and the management of the cooperatives, and Papirus gains, because it can count on selected scraps for its final product. A work without assistentialism, focused on Sustainability.
